Uncertainty Surrounds Removal of Activist’s YouTube Channel
Aisha Yesufu, co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement and a vocal supporter of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, announced that her YouTube channel has been taken down.
However, the reason behind the removal was not disclosed.
YouTube’s Regular Content Moderation Policies
YouTube routinely sanitizes its platform and removes channels that are found to be in violation of its operational policy.
While the specific cause for Yesufu’s channel removal remains unknown, it aligns with YouTube’s practices of maintaining content standards.
Removal Coincides with Tinubu’s Inauguration
Coincidentally, Yesufu’s YouTube page was taken down shortly after President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.
The timing of the removal may have raised questions among her followers.
Yesufu’s Response and Other Endeavors
Taking to Twitter, Yesufu announced the takedown of her YouTube channel and mentioned her intention to promote her other business ventures.
She clarified that she does not wish to engage in any conflicts but is focused on her business endeavors.
Yesufu’s Stance on Protests and Peter Obi’s Role
During a live chat on YouTube with supporters of Peter Obi, Yesufu emphasized that it is not solely the responsibility of the Labour Party candidate to instruct citizens to protest.
She highlighted that everyone has a role to play and that individuals should not make excuses but take action according to their own convictions.
Encouraging Citizen Engagement
Yesufu expressed that anyone has the right to protest, and the decision to do so does not have to come solely from Peter Obi or any other political figure.
She urged citizens to determine their own actions and not rely solely on leaders, emphasizing that everyone has a duty to contribute to the causes they believe in.
