After signing a separation contract, MacKenzie Scott’s divorce is Sealed

The $28.9 billion wealth of billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott will not be disclosed during the divorce proceedings, which will be kept private.

Scott, 52, who was previously married to Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, filed for divorce from Dan Jewett, 47, a former high school chemistry teacher, on Monday in the state of Washington.

A split of assets and debt will be “written out in a separation contract” that Scott and Jewett both agreed to in a confidential separation contract, which keeps the procedures secret, claims the petition submitted in King County Court.

In Washington State, a separation agreement effectively serves as a prenuptial agreement by outlining to the court how the assets of the couple should be shared in the event of a divorce.

There are no intentions for alimony payments or shared custody of the four children that Scott has with Bezos, and neither did the pair mention having children during their brief one-year relationship.

As shown by court documents, Jewett did not object to the divorce.

It is presently uncertain whether a $37.5 million Seattle house allegedly held by Scott is offered for sale. Scott and Jewett have been pretty quiet about their relationship and financial status.

In 2019, Scott and Bezos famously divorced for $36 billion, and since then, she has contributed around $12.8 billion to several organizations.

Scott’s net worth is now estimated by Bloomberg to be more than $28 billion.

In March 2021, Scott announced her engagement to Jewett by adding his name to her pledge to give the bulk of their money to charity. Jewett taught high school chemistry at the exclusive Lakeside School, where her children also attended.

The divorce petition states that the pair wed in California.

Additionally, Jewett’s name has suddenly been removed from a Medium piece that Scott authored on their charitable endeavors last year and which broke the news of the subtle changes.

Jewett allegedly stopped working there last year, citing how his notoriety at the exclusive institution had become a hindrance.

The details of Scott and Jewett’s divorce will probably stay a secret due to their propensity for secrecy.

Scott allegedly owns three sizable mansions, two in Beverly Hills and one in Seattle. The millionaire gave the two California properties given to charity earlier this month. Scott has stayed relatively mum about her complete holdings.

The neighboring houses were valued at $55 million, with 90% of the proceeds going to the California Community Foundation to support programs for immigrant integration in Los Angeles and affordable housing.

The 12,000 square foot main home, characterized as a Spanish hacienda-style palace constructed in the 1990s, is part of the 2.5-acre Beverly Hills property. A 4,500 square foot guesthouse is also there. 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms are present.

A full-size tennis court, lap pool, patios for outdoor gatherings, and parking for several automobiles are available on the property.

During her divorce from Bezos, Scott received ownership of the property, which was then valued at $37 million.

According to Dirt.com, the benefactor is also said to be the owner of a sizable house in Seattle’s Hunts Point district.

Following her divorce with Bezos the same year and the sale of their close-by Medina property, reports appeared of an unidentified buyer splashing out $37.5 million for the 3.2 lakefront acre estate in 2019. Scott was the probable bidder at that time.

The selling price was the most ever paid for a property in the Seattle region, which is further a sign that the buyer was probably billionaire Scott.

Three bedrooms, four bathrooms, an interior elevator, a rooftop deck with a fireplace and a Japanese garden, a glass bridge leading to a two-story guesthouse, and even a rooftop terrace with a fire pit are all features of the house.

Scott and Jewett have also gained a reputation for giving in relative secrecy after getting married quietly last year.

The couple’s gifts, made as individuals rather than via a foundation, were only made public when the beneficiaries declared them or through her sporadic blog entries.

She doesn’t reply to press requests, as Scott has previously said, in an attempt to not draw attention away from the work of the charities she supports.

Scott, who had been married to Bezos for 25 years until their divorce, rose to become one of the wealthiest women in the world and owns a 4% interest in Amazon.

Because of his very meager charitable contributions, Bezos, who is wealthy $137 billion, has sometimes come under fire for her liberal generosity.

However, Bezos has increased his charitable giving in recent years and has promised to give $10 billion via his Bezos Earth Fund, a program to fight climate change that, according to its website, has given $1.54 billion in grants so far. when he wed actress Pia Miller from Australia (seen with him above)

As the Amazon founder began a new relationship with former television news anchor Lauren Sanchez, Scott’s divorce from Bezos proceeded.

The most recent sighting of Bezos, 58, and Sánchez, 52, dating was at the Amazon Prime Video series The Rings Of Power premiere party.

Sánchez, whose modest wealth is said to be around $30 million, has also dabbled in charity. In July, she announced a $1 million contribution to an organization that helps migrants’ children.

The head of media company Endeavor, which owns the UFC and Miss Universe, multimillionaire business entrepreneur Patrick Whitesell, is also divorced from her.

Whitesell, Sanchez’s ex-husband, married Australian actress Pia Miller last year, beginning a new chapter in his life.
