African ambassadors accredited to Morocco commends, Sunday in Rabat, the migration policy adopted by the Kingdom

African diplomats accredited to Morocco lauded the migration strategy that the Kingdom has implemented under the wise leadership of HM King Mohammed VI on Sunday in Rabat and stated their willingness to work with the Moroccan authorities on this problem.

In this regard, Mouhamadou Youssifou, dean of the diplomatic corps and ambassador of Cameroon to Morocco, emphasized that the African group “greatly appreciates the gesture of HM King Mohammed VI for the supervision of migrants in Morocco,” citing the regularization initiative that was launched in 2013 on the King’s initiative in support of irregular migrants in the Kingdom.

At the conclusion of a meeting on the migration issue between officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad and the Ministry of the Interior and the ambassadors and representatives of the African diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco, HM the King emphasized in a statement to the press that “this migration policy of Morocco has earned HM the King to be designated by the African Union (AU) Leader of migration in Africa.”

After denouncing the attack on undocumented immigrants in Nador, Mr. Youssifou emphasized that African ambassadors continue to stand with the Moroccan government to address this issue.

“We stand, as in the past, alongside the Moroccan authorities to face this situation which does not honor our countries and which does not honor Africa, in general”, he pointed out.

“We are ready to support HM King Mohammed VI to find a lasting solution to the issue of immigration,” he said, adding that the African diplomatic corps is ready to work with Morocco to create a synergy of actions with African countries.

Mahamat Abdel Rassoul, the Republic of Chad’s ambassador to Morocco, commended HM the King’s immigration policy and recalled that the Sovereign had issued His High Instructions to provide sanctuary for all foreigners and migrants who work, study, and reside in Morocco.

“We live in Morocco and we know how the Moroccan brothers conduct their policy towards our students, our migrants and our workers in the Kingdom,” he said, recalling that the AU had entrusted to the Sovereign the management of the “very relevant and very sensitive” migration issue.

He also emphasized that his nation was committed to assisting Morocco in putting the Royal vision into action, which aims to make South-South cooperation the cornerstone of African unification.

The Republic of Gabon’s ambassador, Mr. Sylver Aboubakar Minko-Mi-Nseme, highlighted that his nation supports the migration strategy promoted by the Moroccan government, led by HM King Mohammed VI, in his turn.

“We are working with the Moroccan authorities to make our citizens aware of the fact that Morocco is only protecting its territory and that illegal immigration cannot be encouraged,” he said.

The ambassador of Mali in Rabat, Mr. Mohamed Mahamoud Ben Labbat, lauded the prudent migration policy implemented by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Housni Mohamed Abdou, Minister Counselor at the Union of the Comoros Embassy in Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI is working to uphold the Kingdom’s openness policy and to make Morocco a land of reception. He noted that a sizable number of sub-Saharans study, work, and live in the Kingdom.

“We are ready to collaborate with the Moroccan authorities”, said Mr. Mohamed Abdou, reiterating his country’s solidarity with the migration policy carried out under the leadership of HM the King.
