Arrest of Suspected Kidnapper in FCT Abuja Amid Growing Insecurity
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja police command has confirmed the apprehension of another suspected kidnapper, adding to the heightened insecurity in the nation’s capital city.

During a press conference, FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, detailed the incident that led to the arrest.
On Sunday, the Iddo division received a distress call reporting armed men in a black Toyota Corolla who had shot the tires of a moving Prado jeep.
The driver, Suleiman Sabo, was forced to stop in the Sabon Lugbe area, and he was abducted while his wife and car were left behind.
Swiftly responding to the situation, the police tracked down and apprehended the suspect.
Commissioner Garba emphasized the successful efforts of the police, stating that on January 21, they received information about suspicious activity in a house at Sauka village.
The police moved in, cordoned the house, and discovered the kidnapped victim with the suspect, armed with a Mark IV rifle and 10 rounds of live ammunition.
Victim’s Condition and Police Actions
Garba mentioned that the victim, Sabo, sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
The commissioner also highlighted the positive impact of the police Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in the Bwari region of the FCT, where no incidents of kidnapping have been reported since its establishment.
According to Garba, the police have successfully blocked known routes used by bandits, particularly in the Bwari area council.
Numerous individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery have been arrested, leading to the rescue of their victims.
Recovery of Weapons and Stolen Vehicles
Garba further pointed out the successful recovery of various firearms, live ammunition, and vehicles that were previously stolen from victims.
The police’s actions not only involve the arrest of suspects but also the retrieval of weapons and stolen property, contributing to the overall effort to combat insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.
