During the beginning of the highly successful SA20 competition, a number of local players have substantially improved their reputations or have emerged on the national scene overnight. Currently, youthful Sunrisers Eastern Cape batsman Jordan Hermann is one of the players that has captured the attention of viewers searching for the “next generation” of potential stars.

The 21-year-old scored 432 runs at an average of 86.40 in the most recent Four-Day series, and he has also demonstrated talent in the One-Day and Twenty20 formats.

Hermann has been highlighted by former Proteas icon AB de Villiers as one of the players who has really impressed him.

“Off the top of my head, Jordan Hermann is one of the batters. Honestly, I didn’t even know about him before the competition,” De Villiers remarked, as cited by Sport24. Once I heard his name, I watched him bat, and I was quite pleased.

De Villiers even alluded that he would be interested in working with these types of athletes in a coaching capacity.

“I’d enjoy working with these batters. Regarding this, I have a great deal of enthusiasm. You must develop as a player. If you do not progress, you will not enjoy the game. I believe that there should be regular checks. I believe that was what kept me energized. I aspired to raise the bar with each passing season till the very end.”

On Wednesday, the third and final match of the series between South Africa and England will be played in Kimberley.
