Bob the rescue dog was having a difficult time finding a “forever home” and adoptive family until he became popular on TikTok.
A video uploaded to TikTok by user Andrea Cáceres on November 1 was captured at an animal adoption event organized by Badass Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, New York, and saw families engaging with a variety of adoptable canines. Bob Parr, though, was observed standing alone with his handler.
“POV: you are at an adoption event where all of the adoptable canines are receiving attention except for Bob; please find him a forever home,” the caption stated.
The clip became popular on TikTok, gaining 4.1 million views and 526,000 likes, and many users lamented that nobody was paying attention to Bob in the clip.
“How could this five-second clip cause me to burst into tears?” and “I adore Bob so much I would adopt him” were among the most popular comments beneath the piece.
On November 3, Cáceres provided an update in which she claimed that after her video of Bob went viral, the rescue organization received “about 40 adoption applications” Badass Animal Rescue did not confirm a particular number, but they did state that they are “grateful for all the attention Bob is receiving” and that there have been “loads of interest” and “many” adoption applications for him.
The sequence of events pleased the audience.

Cáceres, a New York City-based illustrator, told Insider that she does not work with the rescue organization, but she attended the event to paint portraits of the animals and collect money for them. She stated that she decided to record Bob after spotting him alone because she believed that New York residents might view her TikTok video.
She told Insider, “You could see how much love he has to give, and I hoped the movie would help him find a forever home with someone who could see how much love he has to give and is ready to put up the work.”
She continued, “I’m ecstatic to learn that 4 million people can also view it, and as a result, he now has not one but a multitude of possibilities.”

Julie Zeilinger, who has been fostering Bob, told the Daily Mail that some families who spotted him at the adoption event did contact with him, but that he is a shy dog who was plainly “overwhelmed” by the large number of people present.
She told the site, “He is an exceptionally sweet puppy who only wants to love and be loved.”
Badass Animal Rescue is currently reviewing the adoption applications for Bob, according to a spokesman who told Insider, “We’re attempting to find him the best and most suitable home as quickly as possible.”
