A snapshot of modern Britain: the percentage of citizens who identify as white declines

England and Wales are growing less white and less Christian, according to newly released government data.

The ONS also revealed that while the ethnic make-up of England and Wales is changing, more than 90 per cent said they feel British.

On the day of the 2021 census, 81.7 percent of England and Wales citizens identified as white, down from 86.8 percent a decade earlier.

Additionally, the Office for National Statistics found that two-thirds of Londoners now identify as members of an ethnic minority.

And for the first time since the census started over two centuries ago, less than half of the population identified as Christian. More than a third of people nowadays claim to have no religion.
