Next month, a robotics expert will present an intriguing future in which intelligent robots are used to go where people cannot at a free public lecture in the heart of Oxford.
Professor Rob Buckingham OBE, who is in charge of 300 roboticists at the world-renowned RACE fusion robotics centre at the Culham Science Centre, will give a presentation titled “Essential Robotics: A Guide to Our Shared Future” (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments).
The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) outreach programme includes the public event on September 7 (18.00–19.30) at the Examinations School in Oxford.
“I’m looking forward to presenting our exciting vision of how the world will be assisted by robots,” said Rob Buckingham, Director of UKAEA’s RACE.
They will aid in the economic viability of fusion energy, which is based on the same principles that power the sun and stars.
His presentation will centre on case studies from the JET (Joint European Torus), a record-breaking fusion energy machine, before moving on to the future and showing how autonomous robots will impact life, both at work and pleasure.
