A Non-Governmental Organization Connected Development CODE in collaboration with Malala Fund has organised a town hall meetings for Stakeholders in Yola South and Fufore Local government areas.
The meeting which held at ABTI American University of Nigeria AUN Hotel, drew participants from legislatures, education, religious and Community leaders to brainstorm on the Girl-Child enrollment in Secondary Schools in the state.
Speaking a Programme Manager and Girl-Child Education Manager, Connected Development CODE Zaliha Lawal said the project which was funded by Malala Fund is aim at ensuring several policy reforms in Basic and Secondary education for the Girl Child in Adamawa state.
She noted it also seek commitment from Adamawa state Government to ensure provision of WASH insfrasturacture across every school in Adamawa for condurcive learning environment for the Girl-Child.
The programme Manager stressed the need for increasing enrollment of girl Child in Secondary education and completion through accountability channels for gender responsive service delivery in schools.
Zaliha Lawal advocated for twelve year free compulsory and inclusive education for girl Child in the state.
She commended Adamawa state government for its commitment at uplifting standard of education in the state and urged participants to chart ways of more enrollment of Girl-Child in the state.
In a remark, the speaker Adamawa state House of Assembly Aminu Iya Abbas represented by member representing Verre Constituency Abdullahi Umar Yapak expressed commitment towards enacting laws that will encourage girl child education in the state.
On her part, member representing Demsa Kate Raymond Mamuno who is the chairman house committee on Women stressed the need for collective efforts in ensuring girls acquired basic sound knowledge.
There were Goodwill messages from Representatives of Religious bodies, ministry of education, ministry of water as well as community leaders among others.
