Surprisingly, the mother of a New Orleans McDonald’s employee who dialed 911 during an armed robbery was the dispatcher who answered her call.
According to WDSU, Tenia Hill, 16, was working at the fast food business when an armed woman came and forced her and other employees into a freezer.
According to the investigation, Hill dialed the emergency phone number while inside the freezer, and her mother Teri Clark answered.
Hill stated in a 911 conversation obtained by the publication, “Mama, please hurry, she has a gun.”
Clark, assistant operations manager for the Orleans Parish Communications District, answered, “We’re going to move quickly; please provide a description.”
Clark told the news station that she was “in a state of shock” and that “tears were streaming down my cheeks” while attempting to perform her duties.
Clark stated that she was scheduled for a break but volunteered to work overtime to assist her coworkers.
Clark was able to check on her kid after police eventually arrived, according to WDSU. Clark, who has worked at her profession for over 25 years, had never received an emergency call from a family member before that day, according to the news source.
Tyrell Morris, the executive director of the communication district, praised Clark for her efforts, telling CNN that she is “a great example of what our 911 heroes do every day in New Orleans and across the country.”
