Chris Rowley, 59, from Countesthorpe, Leicestershire, fell down the stairs after his pet kitten attached itself to his leg and he attempted to move out of the way, which caused him to fall.

He lay on the floor for 14 hours as he waited for his partner Jackie, a care worker, to return from her night shift. He suffered nine broken ribs, a fractured spine, and a cracked skull.

The professional musician was unable to get up from the floor after a fall on Sunday, October 23, and was hospitalized for two weeks.

59-year-old Chris Rowley from Countesthorpe, Leicestershire, tripped over his cat after it attached itself to his leg.

His injuries, which were comparable to those sustained in a car accident, also caused a brain hemorrhage.

Since his encounter with his new cat, Eric Morecambe, named after one half of the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise, he has been unable to work.

Chris told the Mirror, “I don’t remember much besides falling quickly; it was over in a matter of seconds, and then I was at the bottom.”

“My phone was dead; I couldn’t physically get up; it’s the worst feeling; it’s almost like claustrophobia; you can’t get out, you can’t physically go anywhere or do anything.”

Jackie explained that she had to leave the room while Chris was being treated for his injuries because she could not bear to hear him in such agony.

She stated, “When I opened the door, I heard his screams and saw the blood.

“Oh my God!” I exclaimed, and I ran up to him; upon seeing him, I took one look and dialed 999.”
