A funeral pyre exploded in Cambodia, killing a Buddhist monk

In Cambodia, a funeral pyre exploded in front of a Buddhist priest as he was conducting a cremation, killing him instantly.

In order to bury a 20-year-old guy who died in a motorbike accident in the province of Kampong Cham, Hoeun Soeun, 72, was reciting prayers while he poured gasoline on wood.

The religious leader in white robes can be seen in the video approaching the front of the kiln when the metal door was suddenly blown off by the explosion.

The steel door slammed into the pensioner’s face, sending him to the ground.

He sustained a terrible head injury and passed away right away.

Police concluded that the priest’s death was “unaccounted for” after looking into his death at the pagoda in the Cheung Prey neighbourhood.

This catastrophe, according to them, was the first of its sort to occur in a funeral home.

The tragedy occurred when the priest was setting the body of the young man on fire with wood and 30 litres of gasoline, according to deputy police chief lieutenant colonel Seng Lino. The priest has been burning bodies for more than 40 years.

The massive steel door was torn off by the power of the cremation furnace explosion when the priest lighted the body, the man said.

The door struck him in the forehead, severely injuring him, and he passed away right away.

“The explosion’s source is unknown. The priest had done hundreds of cremations and was highly skilled.

According to the police, residents think that the priest’s corpse shouldn’t be burned owing to the circumstances of his passing, thus his remains have been transferred to his family for burial.

According to the policeman, the kiln is now being inspected to make sure it is secure for upcoming cremations.
