A Florida man died after a sand dune fell on him, authorities report

According to local police, a Florida man was killed when a sand dune on a beach appears to have fallen on top of him.

According to police, the unidentified 35-year-old man was reportedly taking a nap while filming the sunrise.

The man was found when a beachgoer noticed a piece of his body poking up through the sand, according to a statement from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials stated that there is no suspicion of foul play and that it appears he was trapped under the sand and died from asphyxia hours earlier.

Hutchinson Island in Florida, which is about an hour’s drive north of West Palm Beach, is where the incident took place.

The results of the toxicology tests, according to officials, “are not likely to change the outcome of this incident being a tragic accident,” despite the fact that they are routine procedures.

The man’s passing occurs almost three months to the day after a 13-year-old boy died in a Utah sand tunnel collapse.

According to authorities, Ian Spendlove perished when a tunnel he had apparently dug in a dune at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park collapsed while he was inside.
