A 48-year-old father from Rockhampton has been sentenced to prison for raping his teenage daughter: In less than a year could be free

Despite rapping his teenage daughter and ordering her not to tell anybody about the abuse, a father could be out of jail in less than a year.
On June 10, a 48-year-old Rockhampton man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to one count of domestic violence rape.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison, but might be released on parole as soon as June 4, 2023, if he serves his sentence.

The teenage victim woke up in her bed on the morning of the attack in early in 2021, to find her father was in her room.

The only other adult who lived in the house had already left for work. It was still dark and the girl attempted to get back to sleep.

It was only then that her father approached her. She ‘laid still in shock’ as he raped her in the bed, Rockhampton District Court heard, according to The Morning Bulletin.

Crown prosecutor Maryam Yousufzai said the young victim had to confront her father in the home as she prepared for school just hours later.

He promised to drive her to school and asked that she not tell anybody about the awful rape as he dropped her off.

During the day, the adolescent confided in a friend, who persuaded her to report the occurrence. Within hours, police were called, and the girl was transported to a friend’s house for her own protection.

When the victim failed to return to school, her father went to the local police station in an attempt to learn more about her whereabouts. He went back to the same station seven days in a row, asking the same question each time.
