After colliding with a Warrior armored fighting vehicle during a training exercise in Wiltshire, a soldier suffered fatal brain injuries.

Sadly, the 26-year-old man lost his life following the military vehicle crash on Tuesday morning on Salisbury Plain near Tidworth, which occurred during a regular drill.

According to investigators, the 26-year-old was a soldier with the 5th Battalion The Rifles.

A statement from Wiltshire Police read: “At around 10.45am yesterday (21/6), emergency services were contacted to a location on Salisbury Plain, just west of Tidworth, in response to a report that a man had collided with a Warrior armored fighting vehicle during a normal training exercise.

‘A 26-year-old man sustained significant head injuries and sadly died at the scene.

‘He has been identified as a member of 5th Battalion The Rifles.

‘Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. His family are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.

‘An investigation into the collision is being led by Wiltshire Police alongside the Army and Health and Safety Executive.’
