Following a wave of films documenting blatant robberies and beatings across the capital, shocking footage shows the moment a group of criminals attacked a woman as she lay in the street.

At 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, cameras caught the throng encircling the 19-year-old woman outside a newsagent in South Norwood, London.

The woman was kicked and assaulted by about a dozen people after the gang knocked her to the ground. She attempted to shield her head throughout this time.

Video depicts the woman being attacked from all angles while appearing to be alone and defenseless.

She was eventually transported to a hospital where non-life-threatening injuries were treated, according to the Met Police. It is still unknown what started the altercation.

After a period of widespread lawlessness that threatened the city’s people’ safety, the incident occurred.

On Portland Road last Saturday, the woman was besieged by the throng. Just after 10 o’clock at night, police arrived on the scene.

As the victim was being attacked, bystanders can be seen swarming around the group and encouraging them.

When police officers came, the throng scattered and the woman could be seen being helped shakily to her feet.

In a statement provided to Mail Online, the force said: “Officers attended and it was stated that a 19-year-old woman had been assaulted by another woman.”

The Metropolitan Police stated that it is currently investigating the event and that no arrests have been made in relation to it.

The video captures another event that occurred immediately after the throng dispersed outside the newsstand, but the reason behind it is not immediately apparent.

Crowds of people were moved away from the site and down the street as more police officers arrived on the scene.

The attack on the 19-year-old is only one of many heinous incidents that London authorities are presently looking into.

Earlier this week, when the victim was waiting outside a posh Mayfair restaurant, a robber was captured on camera stealing a watch off his wrist in plain daylight.

The unidentified patron had his watch snatched away by the burglar in front of onlookers while he was entering a restaurant in Berkeley Square, London, on Tuesday night.

A courageous old woman carrying a stick was observed in Chelsea, west London, on the same day confronting masked knifemen who had just stolen a £60,000 Rolex from a woman in the street.

Police authorities have acknowledged that there has been an upsurge in on-street robberies as a result of the recent crime wave.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, has come under fire from some social media users for not doing enough to stop street robberies and knife violence.
