Rhulani Mokwena confirms players WILL be leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, but WHO?

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has confirmed that there are players who will be leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.

The Brazilians currently have a squad of 36 and if they are to buy new players they will need to make space by offloading some of their current squad.

But who will be packing their bags and leaving the champions?

According to Soccer Laduma, Promise Mkhuma will probably join SuperSport United, while a decision needs to be made by Mamelodi Sundowns over the futures of midfielder George Maluleka and forward Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Rhulani Mokwena did not mention names

Mokwena told media that there were players that would be offloaded, but did not mention any names.

“Do we expect players to leave? Of course. I think it’s only normal that in every football club, the goal is to improve,” said Mokwena.

“And sometimes to improve means creating space so that you can bring in because we can’t bring in with already 36 players and continue to bring in and hoard players. It will be the same process.

“We will combine our reports, submit them to the sporting director and the board, and then have meetings with the scouting department,” Rhulani Mokwena told media at Chloorkop.

Mamelodi Sundowns clinched a fifth consecutive PSL title this season and are also in the Nedbank Cup final scheduled for later this month.

They also won the MTN8 title in late 2021.

Masandawana will next be in action at home against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 14 May at 15:00.
