The United Kingdom stated that President Joe Biden will not be advised to take a bus to Queen Elizabeth II’s burial.
Due to tight security and road restrictions, Politico reported on Sunday that foreign leaders were urged to arrive in the United Kingdom through commercial planes and would be transported to the burial at Westminster by guarded shuttle buses.
The Times of London reported on Monday that Biden will be able to travel around London in his armored vehicle.
According to UK government sources quoted by The Times, Biden will be permitted to drive his own vehicle to the funeral for security purposes, consistent with his travel arrangements for prior visits.
During a Monday media briefing, a spokesperson for British Prime Minister Liz Truss described the travel requests as “advice” rather than a rule.
They stated, “Arrangements for leaders’ travel will differ based on their particular circumstances.”
“Arrangements for various leaders will vary based on factors such as security risks.”
According to a report by HuffPost, the prime minister’s office also responded affirmatively when asked if Biden may choose his own means of transportation within London.
The Times reported that other foreign leaders, such as French President Emmanuel Macron, are likely to use their own vehicles for security purposes.
