22 September: 37-year-old lady killed at Mbombela’s Kanyamazane Extension 1

On September 22, in the early hours of Thursday, a 37-year-old lady was killed at Kanyamazane Extension 1 close to Mbombela. The cops think her lover was the suspected murderer.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a spokeswoman for the South African Police Service (SAPS), the event happened at 7:00.

Shirley Hassan, the deceased, was reportedly shot and murdered by the guy as she travelled to work in Mbombela.

“It is also stated that this occurred in plain view of neighbourhood residents who were travelling to work and schools. In order to terminate his life, he is claimed to have turned the pistol on himself after fleeing the scene and going to his father’s home in Kanyamazane Ext. 1, according to Mohlala.

Medical workers pronounced the guy and the wife deceased at different locations. Police think Hassan and the suspect were romantically involved.

To learn more about the occurrence and the circumstances that led to the shooting, an inquest and a murder inquiry have been launched.

The original police investigation revealed that domestic abuse may have been a factor in the shooting’s motivation. Additionally, it was discovered that the murder weapon had been taken on September 16, 2022, in Kanyamazane during a break-in.

“This occurrence is unfortunate, and we kindly ask community members to abstain from resorting to violence as a means of settling personal disputes.

According to Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela, the police commissioner in Mpumalanga, “Gender-Based Violence is recognised as a pandemic and the nation is fighting to halt the spate of women who are regrettably killed in the hands of their partners.”
