17-month-old daughter drowns in backyard spa in Gracemere

This a heartbreaking story about a family who lost their 17-month-old daughter Taidyn ‘Totty’ Murphy, after she drowned in their backyard spa in Gracemere, in Queensland’s Rockhampton region, in September 2022. Taidyn’s mother, Tahlia Murphy, married her husband Cecil five months after Taidyn’s death to honour her life.

The couple had a wedding celebration centred around their baby girl, and Tahlia particularly treasures one specific photo from the event.

The picture shows Tahlia and Cecil kissing in the sunshine, with a shadowy figure hiding behind a tree.

Tahlia said she was devastated her daughter couldn’t be there on their special day until a friend pointed out the small figure in one of their wedding photos, which Tahlia believes is Taidyn’s spirit.

The couple even married on a specific day to best signify Taidyn, March 22, because she was born in March 2021 and died in March 2022. Their anniversary is on June 22, and the number 22 is the combined age of their three other children, making the date perfect for them.

Tahlia said while she had always been sceptical of anything supernatural, the picture confirmed that her little girl was there looking on. The family has also seen yellow butterflies every day since Taidyn’s death, and Tahlia believes this is another sign from her daughter.

Tahlia uploaded a video showing the shadowy figure to TikTok, and it has been seen more than 1.4 million times, with users commenting that Taidyn was there that day. This story is eerie and heartwarming, showing the power of a mother’s love and the belief that their loved ones are always with them.
