160 cases of monkeypox in Austria so far

VIENNA, 6th August, 2022 (WAM) — In Austria there have been 160 reported cases of monkeypox. Of these, 45 patients have already been reported as having recovered in the epidemiological register (EMS).

This emerges from the update of the number of cases on the website of the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) on Friday. Since Monday, 28 cases have been added.

Meanwhile, the expected second delivery of the vaccine against monkeypox has arrived in Austria, according to the Ministry of Health.

With the second tranche of 2,000 doses, contact persons of those directly affected and employees in specialised laboratories are to be vaccinated, the ministry announced in a broadcast. Efforts to procure additional vaccines are ongoing.
