Police say a group of youths stabbed to death a 13-year-old kid who was eating with friends at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in downtown Los Angeles.

Wednesday at approximately 5:40 p.m., a violent altercation broke out outside the fast food restaurant near the junction of Seventh and Flower streets.

KTLA reported that Rialto resident Marco Murillo was stabbed by one of the attackers while police from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Traffic Services Division attempted to break up the brawl.

The 13-year-old was given first assistance before being transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Alexis Lopez, the youngster’s aunt, told ABC Eyewitness News, “Marco was a good boy with good intentions and a good soul.”

Wednesday evening, the stabbing occurred outside the Chick-fil-A near the intersection of 7th and Flower streets in downtown Los Angeles.

During their investigation, police discovered that Murillo and the person suspected of stabbing him had a verbal disagreement that escalated rapidly into physical violence.

Lorena Lopez, the mother of the deceased kid, stated that there is no evidence that her son knew his killer or any of the other teens involved in the altercation.

“As far as I am aware, my son has never seen these men,” Lopez told Eyewitness News.

According to police, Murillo, left, was with buddies when he exchanged words with a juvenile from another group.

At least one person of interest was seen on camera being apprehended at the scene, but no information on any arrests was published. According to reports, police were searching for another individual.

The police described the suspect as a Hispanic male between the ages of 14 and 17 with a medium build and height.

At the scene of the stabbing, relatives and friends have gathered in large numbers to leave candles, flowers, and balloons in Murillo’s name.

Police detained the pictured person of interest, but were still searching for a second 14- to 17-year-old suspect.

During an emotional vigil, Amanda Patterson pleaded with his murderer to surrender himself.

Patterson stated, “It’s the moral thing to do.” The mother does not have the right to bury her 13-year-old son.
