12-year-old killed in Wollongong crash

The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, sobbed as he was accused of driving a stolen Holden at high speed with two passengers.

The Parramatta Children’s Court heard that he then drifted into oncoming traffic and crashed into a traffic signal in Wollongong, south of Sydney, at approximately 1:35 a.m.

The driver and another youngster allegedly fled the accident scene in Towradgi, leaving behind a 12-year-old passenger who was fatally injured.

The small youngster was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and reach a residence in the nearby area of Balgownie.

However, he died shortly thereafter due to catastrophic injuries acquired in the Tuesday accident.12-year-old killed in Wollongong crash

According to the Daily Telegraph, police prosecutor Maya Obirek opposed bail and stated that the motorist, who was caught near Goulburn on Friday, shown “callous disregard.”

Two ran away and left the 12-year-old unresponsive, allowing him to die… Ms. Obirek stated that the action was reprehensible.

The court was informed that the 17-year-old driver has a lengthy criminal history that includes violent offenses, domestic violence, and driving stolen cars.

The driver and another juvenile fled the accident scene at Towradgi, leaving his 12-year-old passenger, who was critically injured, in the destroyed Barina, according to the Parramatta Children’s Court.

In addition, he was subject to a court injunction at the time of the collision.

On Saturday, the teen was charged with six offenses, including reckless driving resulting in death, negligent driving resulting in death, and two counts of failing to stop and offer help.

Paul Mulroney granted Ms. Obirek’s plea to deny release, stating that he had “no faith” that the juvenile would comply with bail conditions.

The magistrate added that there was “substantial evidence” to support the assertion that the 17-year-old was responsible for the death of the 12-year-old.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, he was discovered gravely injured at the home of a friend in Balgownie – half an hour after the stolen automobile crashed into the traffic signal.

He was attended to by paramedics before being brought to Wollongong Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday at 1.35 a.m., a Holden Barina collided with a traffic light in Towradgi, as depicted by emergency personnel at the scene of the accident.

Detectives are also investigating whether the accident is related to the deadly TikTok craze known as “creepin’ while ya sleepin’,” in which young Australians record themselves committing major crimes such as car theft and high-speed driving.

TikTok has stated that it will remove videos with the hashtag as well as others, such as #blackoutchallenge, in which users hold their breath until they pass out.

Family and friends have memorialized the 12-year-old online.

One wrote, “Love you my brother… we will meet you soon, we love you sooo much, rest easy my soulja my cousin, and rest in paradise.”

“We simply need closure for what happened to you, my little cuz,”

Another relative commented, “My heart hurts, R.I.P. little cuzzy, you were taken far too young.” Our hearts are broken,’ wrote the boy’s aunt.

Officers from the adjacent Corrimal Police Station heard the collision and went to the site, but the vehicle was empty when they arrived.

Detective Acting Inspector Jason Hogan of the NSW Police stated, “We are appealing to anyone who may have social media content covering the occurrences that occurred this morning to come forward.”

We are reviewing all possible avenues of inquiry, including the social media avenue.
