11-year-old boy struck by a train in suburban Adelaide

An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a train during the morning rush hour at Tambelin Railway Station in Evanston Gardens, northern Adelaide.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning shortly before 8.15am (ACDT). The child is conscious and breathing, but has suffered critical injuries in the crash, according to police.

The Women’s and Children’s Hospital is treating the boy, where he is understood to be in critical condition, as reported by Daily Mail Australia.

Witnesses to the incident, 18-year-old students Sophie Shepley and Morgan Taylor, described how the train stopped and people were running up and banging on the door to get everyone’s attention to let them know someone had been hit.
