Zahara: “I’m tired of explaining myself”

Zahara has addressed to allegations that she was intoxicated during her performance at the Macufe Lifestyle Divas Show in Bloemfontein this past weekend.

The “Loliwe” hitmaker stated that social media videos in which she can be heard and seen performing off-key versions of several of her hit songs were altered with the intention of tarnishing her name.

Zahara said IOL Entertainment, “I’m so tired of explaining myself for everything that people decide to do and what they want to think of me.”

“Those in attendance at Macufe witnessed my performance. I am not referring to individuals who are attempting to sabotage me. Ask anyone who witnessed my performance in Macufe,” continued Zahara.

Listed below are some of the videos that generated buzz on social media.

Zahara’s attempt to refute the “drunk singing” charges via social media appears to have failed.

“Don’t modify things to demean me, God is always nice. Stop this foolishness,” Zahara tweeted.

Nota and other Twitter users did not believe Zahara’s story.

Nota, notorious for ruffling feathers, wrote: “If Zahara met a nice spouse who’s half the man I am, she wouldn’t be performing to pay SARS and drowning her sorrows in alcohol before taking the stage. Abuse of substances results in incarceration, institutionalization, or death.”

If Zahara found a nice spouse who is half the man I am, she wouldn’t be performing to pay for SARS and drinking to bury her emotions before going on stage. Substance misuse results in death, incarceration, or institutionalization. Unfortunately, she does not resemble Zodwa Wabantu or Mihlali!

“Guys, the video is in no way edited.” Even on the Instagram page for Macufe, Zahara’s intoxication onstage is clear.

“Re tlwayela mase**!” Some of us have defended her the entire time; if she wishes to continue drinking her career away, so be it!” tweeted @JohnsonAwalle.

Guys The video is entirely unedited. Even the Macufe Instagram page attests to the fact that Zahara physically went on stage inebriated. Some of us have always defended Tlwayela Masepa, and if she wishes to continue drinking her career away, so be it. pic.twitter.com/tY4vGTb2tJ

“At this point, Zahara’s nonsense is indefensible. She must answer for her actions,” tweeted @Khwezi bass.

“Zahara’s behavior is a reflection of what is occurring in South Africa, where drunkenness has become the norm.

“They drink everywhere: while driving, at work, and while raising their children. Some children have never witnessed their parents sober and mentally present. “It’s a sad fact,” @tshepisolelakah added.

In South Africa, individuals have normalized alcoholism, which is shown in Zahara’s behavior. They drink everywhere: while driving, at work, and while raising their children. Some children have never witnessed their parents sober and mentally present. It is a sad fact. https://t.co/Ygc3TirzqV

Zahara’s career has been hampered for years by claims of alcoholism, but the Eastern Cape-born celebrity has consistently denied she has a “drinking issue.”

In multiple interviews, she has advised her fans to focus on her music rather than her personal life.

Zahara threatened to sue Somizi Mhlongo in 2017 after he commented about her alleged alcoholism.

“The event is almost over, and there’s an awesome after party with a free drink…

Where is Zahara located? “She’s probably already at the pub,” Mhlongo stated at the time.
