William and Harry will not commemorate Diana’s 25th anniversary together

Prince William and Prince Harry, rival brothers, are apparently not going to celebrate Diana’s 25th remembrance together, either in public or privately.

The Duke of Cambridge, 40, and the Duke of Sussex, 37, have decided to stop holding public memorials in favour of spending time with their own families to commemorate their mother.

Since they presented a monument of their late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, this summer, the two have not talked in person.

For the highly anticipated unveiling of the monument honouring Victoria in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, her old London residence, they temporarily put their tense relationship aside.

William and Harry created a memorial garden at Kensington Palace, took part in a documentary, and donated items to an exhibition in 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Diana’s passing.

The brothers will mourn in private on Wednesday, the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, according to a story in The Telegraph.

However, Prince Harry said this week that he wanted the day to be remembered for both her amazing job and the manner she went about doing it.

“I want it to be a day to honour my mother and to share her spirit with my family, especially my children, who I wish had the chance to know her. I try to make her proud every day.

Also anticipated is the widespread placement of flowers in front of Kensington Palace.

The event coincides with Harry and Meghan’s upcoming visit to the UK, however they won’t be seeing William and Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will fly on September 5 from their residence in California to Manchester for the One Young World Summit, where Meghan will deliver the opening keynote speech.

Before returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, when Prince Harry will give a speech, the pair will first go to Germany for a celebration marking a year till the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf on September 6.

The pair hasn’t been in the UK since the Jubilee festivities in June, at which time they maintained a low profile. Additionally, they went in April, when they travelled to the Netherlands and saw Charles and the Queen covertly.

Later this month, the Duke of Cambridge and his family will relocate from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage, which is just a 10-minute walk from Windsor Castle.

If the Cambridges move to Adelaide in the next weeks, they will just be 800m away from the Sussexes’ current house, Frogmore Cottage, if they want to remain there.

The two couples won’t have lived next to one other before when Prince Harry and Meghan left Kensington Palace in 2019.

However, a source allegedly said that the Sussexes have no intentions to see the Cambridges and that their tour would be devoted to “helping various causes near to their hearts.”

When Diana passed away in a vehicle accident in Paris on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36, William and Harry were 15 and 12.

Although they are both aware of the anniversary’s historical importance and the desire of people all around the globe to commemorate it, for them it represents a far more significant milestone.

According to their friends, they are both still very upset that their mother has been absent from their life for a longer period of time than she has been there for and that she has missed seeing the birth of her first grandchildren.
