A prize draw has awarded a widower the keys to a Lake District country property worth £2.5 million plus £100,000.A man has won this dream £2.5 million country home in the Lake District in an Omaze prize draw

Last month, 58-year-old Grant Carson, who was diagnosed with arthritis as a youngster, left his 27-year position as a disability charity employee to become a freelance consultant.

The most recent Omaze Million Pound House Draw has been won by him.

The exquisitely restored 18th-century farmhouse with five bedrooms is situated on more than eight acres of property with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, just a short drive from Lake Windermere.

A man has realized this dream. A £2.5 million Lake District estate won in an Omaze prize draw

There is no mortgage on the property, and all transfer taxes and legal fees are included.

He invested £100 on 850 raffle entries, which helped raise an astounding £850,000 for the Dogs Trust charity.

Grant worked for a charity in Glasgow for 27 years, assisting disabled individuals with all facets of life, with a focus on employment and accessible housing.

However, in December he chose to pursue a new profession as a freelance consultant that assists businesses in meeting the demands of disabled consumers.

Unfortunately, Ruth, Grant’s wife, died away in 2011.

Seventeen years have passed since he moved into his current three-bedroom semi-detached home in Glasgow.

Grant stated that he is now looking forward to acquiring a dog, which was previously unthinkable.

Since he was diagnosed with chronic arthritis at the age of seven, it may be difficult for him to take regular long walks.

Every window in the home offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

The house also boasts a big patio and outdoor lounging space with breathtaking Lake District views.

After winning the house and £100,000, Grant Carson, age 58, stated that he is looking forward to obtaining a puppy.

Grant now has the option of living in the home, renting it out, or selling it. If he rents it, it may generate £5,000 each month.

However, as his new property is surrounded by “idyllic countryside” and he can “definitely afford a dog walker,” he believes that now is the ideal moment to acquire a dog.

The crew from Omaze surprised Grant at his home in Glasgow with the news that he had won the grand prize mansion.

“When the Omaze team rang my doorbell, I couldn’t believe it at first; it’s not every Friday evening that someone comes to your door and tells you that you’ve won a £2,500,000 house!”

Before today, I had never actually won anything, but now I may be one of the luckiest guys in Scotland!

Starting out as a freelance consultant was a major adjustment for me, but this win has provided me financial security I never imagined, allowing me to focus on my new enterprise assisting organizations in meeting the needs of disabled consumers with much less stress.

I still can’t believe that I actually own a home in the Lake District, as it is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. I’m unsure of my long-term plans, but I’m going to move in and enjoy it for a while.

Regardless of my choice, this is a truly life-altering victory for me.

‘Having worked in the nonprofit sector for so long, I know firsthand how crucial it is to raise funds. I believe these Omaze draws are excellent for the nonprofit sector.’

The Lake District House Draw made Grant a multimillionaire and raised £850,000 for Dogs Trust.

In addition to views of the Lake District scenery and the property’s garden, the home’s cosy bedrooms offer views of the surrounding countryside.

The rural idyll features an independent guest suite with vaulted ceilings, a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living area.

The Lake District House Draw not only made Grant a multimillionaire, but it also raised £850,000 for Dogs Trust.

The organization rehomes dogs and helps train pet owners whose animals require special care.

Owen Sharp, chief executive officer of Dogs Trust, said, ‘This innovative prize draw has raised an astounding amount for Dogs Trust, and we’re so grateful to everyone who participated – the funds raised will go towards our vital ongoing work to care for dogs and find them forever homes, which, sadly, so many are in need of at the moment.

“Congratulations to Grant for winning the Lake District house – what a fantastic way to begin the new year! I’m thrilled that he will finally be able to get a dog, who will no doubt enjoy the incredible residence as much as Grant does.”

James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze, said, ‘We’re ecstatic that Grant has won his dream home, and that he was able to help Dogs Trust fund £850,000 in the process.’

“Omaze is beneficial for both charities and participants.” By giving extraordinary prizes, such as this stunning home in the heart of the Lake District, we give people the opportunity to win the home of their dreams while introducing charities to audiences they would not normally reach.

We have already raised £9,150,000 for good causes in the United Kingdom using this type of fundraising.
