When a mobile hairdresser drove into another car after leaving a bar, she claimed she was nearly four times the legal limit for driving under the influence of alcohol due to her special juice-only diet

When a mobile hair stylist drove into another car after leaving a bar, she claimed that her unique juice-only diet was to blame for making her nearly four times the legal limit for driving under the influence.

According to information given to Bromley Magistrates’ Court, Gaynor Godwin, 41, needed to cling onto one of the arresting police officers to help steady herself as she stumbled out of her car.

‘She had been blending fruit and vegetables for a few weeks prior and had not been eating properly,’ argued Nick Ferrari in defence.

“Drinking alcohol while following such a restrictive diet would send anyone for six,”

The Bromley single mother admitted to driving her white BMW estate on May 31 in Glassmill Lane while very intoxicated.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, but she had 130.

Godwin admitted to the police that her after-work drinks at a nearby Wetherspoons consisted of just two wine spritzers.

She blamed the other vehicle for swerving into her path and stopping abruptly in front of her, saying the crash would have probably happened even if she had been sober.

Judge Alan Austin reprimanded Godwin for his “disgraceful conduct” on this particular day.

“You were severely inebriated and endangered the lives of others.”

You are a smart woman, and you are aware of the risks associated with drunk driving. You should not be doing this given your obligations.

Godwin was given a 30-month driving ban and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.

In addition, she was ordered to pay £95 in victim surcharges and £85 in costs.

Police were alerted to a traffic accident on a bend just before 11 o’clock at night, prosecutor Denise Clewes told the court.

They observed two cars, one of which was a white BMW with damage to the front bumper.

They also observed Ms. Godwin getting back into the vehicle and taking the wheel.

She refused aid and assured the cops that she was uninjured, but as she exited the vehicle, she reached out to touch the officer’s arm in an effort to regain her balance.

Godwin was described by the police as being “incomprehensible to understand.”

Godwin was arrested after failing a roadside breath test, but her two female companions were unharmed.

After being hauled out of the Toyota, the other driver was injured and sent to the hospital.

The detention Sergeant at Bromley Police Station observed that she was wobbly on her feet, aggressive toward the arresting police, and that she smelled strongly of alcohol.

“When questioned, she claimed that she was travelling downhill and failed to use the brakes in time, crashing into the second vehicle.

We drank a bottle and a half of wine between the three of us in the pub with supper, and I felt OK to drive, the woman said.

According to Ms. Clewes, “It is a very high reading and a high level of impairment,” Godwin was previously found guilty of drunk driving in Marbella, Spain, in 2010.

Mr. Ferrari described the incident as a small accident with a vehicle prang.

There will be severe repercussions, and she won’t be able to work as a mobile hairstylist who travels to clients’ homes to cut their hair any more.

She understands that if this offence resulted in an incarceration sentence, her eleven-year-old son might be deprived of her because she is a committed mum.
