Walking tiger in Walkerville, Johannesburg

Saturday night, January 14, a tiger reportedly escaped from a property in Walkerville, Johannesburg. The Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark SPCAs stated that the animal is privately owned.

Multiple officials are searching for the tiger in the Walkerville region, according to the SPCA. Our crew is also on the ground and working closely with the authorities to catch the tiger safely.

According to the owner of the property, the female tiger escaped when the fence was cut on Saturday night after being held on the property alongside a male tiger.

A 39-year-old man was reportedly attacked, and at least two dogs were slain. According to TimesLive, the man fled without suffering significant injuries.

The public has been warned not to approach the hazardous beast.
