Two Vermont state troopers, Nathan Jensen and Nathan Greco are on paid leave. In contrast, state police officials investigate allegations of racist and misogynistic comments made by the two officers while playing an online game off duty. The troopers are assigned to the Westminster barracks. They have been on paid relief-from-duty status since February 15, according to a state police spokesman who confirmed the information to Fox News Digital.

The Vermont Department of Public Safety’s commissioner, Jennifer Morrison, released a statement on February 9th stating that state police received a report from state Sen. Nader Hashim about the alleged behaviour. Hashim received the report from a constituent who was relaying an anonymous complaint. Initially, the information provided did not contain enough detail to warrant an investigation, but after more information was received, an investigation was launched.

Morrison emphasized that the Vermont State Police takes all complaints regarding the misconduct of state troopers, on or off duty, very seriously. Due to strict confidentiality requirements surrounding internal investigations, she could not comment further on the specific allegations.

Once the internal investigation is complete, the state police and Morrison plan to consult the State Police Advisory Commission on the next steps and provide any information they can, in accordance with the law, to the public. Jensen was reportedly hired in July 2018, and Greco in October 2021.
