Two NYPD officers rescues a young woman after she collapsed onto the rails of a subway station in Brooklyn

A young woman was saved by two NYPD officers after she fell onto the rails of a Brooklyn subway station during a morning rush hour while experiencing a “medical episode.”

The two officers, Muhammed Ghani and Rochelle Paulburton, saw a 25-year-old woman tumbling from the platform at the Bay Ridge 95th Street station at 8:30 on Monday morning while they were on transit duty.

The two policemen can be seen strolling closely behind the woman as she progressively approaches the edge of the platform in bodycam video that was made available by the 68th Precinct Police on Tuesday.

Her feet become entangled, and she falls onto the northbound R train’s subterranean rails.

As the young woman shakes uncontrollably, it appears as though she is having a seizure, and one of the police officers jumps onto the rail to lift her.

In order to rapidly remove the woman from the rail in case a train was about to arrive at the station, the second officer assisted her colleague from the platform.

According to the NYPD, the closest northbound R train was still several stops away from the station and did not obstruct the rescue.

The woman did not seem to have any visible bodily injuries as a result of the fall.

She was transported to NYU Langone, where doctors believe her condition is stable. As of Wednesday, the NYPD told DailyMail.com that her identity remained confidential.

The incident did not result in any injuries to the two officers who assisted the young woman.

According to NBC New York, they had both worked with the NYPD for at least five years.

Despite Mayor Eric Adams’ pledge to reduce local crime, violent crimes have continued to occur in New York City’s subway system under his leadership.

Compared to 2021, the amount of crime occurring in the subway system has increased.

Former NYPD officer and current mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has frequently spoken out against crime in the city but has come under fire for his inaction.

While homicides and shootings are each down 13 and 11% from the same time period last year, according to figures from the NYPD, overall crime is up roughly 38% this year compared to June 2021.

Robberies have increased dramatically by 40%, while felony assaults and rapes have also increased by 20% and 15%, respectively.

However, transit crime has seen the biggest increase, up almost 54% from 695 reports at this time last year to 1,072 reports through June 19, 2022.
