TV team confronts Sydney hoarder, who refuses to put on trousers

A TV team pleaded with a garbage hoarder who had accumulated enormous mountains of trash outside the home of a friend to wear trousers as they approached him on behalf of the neighbours.

Dave is sleeping at his friend Sue’s home in Mt. Druitt, Sydney’s West, but after moving there two years ago, he soon transformed the yard into a rubbish dump.

The front of an old automobile is perched on the roof, and there are piles of yard waste, domestic garbage, and construction waste that extend all the way to the guttering.

A Current Affair reporter Hannah Sinclair recently visited the residence in response to concerns from nearby neighbours, only to be met by a naked Dave.

Dave is sleeping at his friend Sue’s home in Mt. Druitt, Sydney’s West, but after moving there two years ago, he soon transformed the yard into a rubbish dump.

The team was half-dressed when they arrived at his driveway and he informed them that he wanted the neighbours to “mind their own business” and that he would have the mess cleaned up. The council had given him 28 days to remove the trash.

You can tell us that, Dave, if you put some trousers on, Ms. Sinclair said.

Dave ultimately composed himself and explained how the trash had accumulated, but he decided against wearing trousers for the interview.

He said, “Honest to God, I don’t know what I was thinking… I almost became a hoarder.”

He stated that while gathering and sorting the rubbish, he “had an absolute fun.” However, after feeling awful, he instructed the team that he “wants it gone today” and to “take it with them.”

Sue, who has been in the home for forty years, also wants the trash removed because she claims it is making her ill.

Dave acknowledged that he “made a major mess,” but said that he didn’t feel like a horrible neighbour.

“No issue,” I said, “if they want to go into their pockets and grab me a skip bin.”

It was only a phase I through. Tell them to stop bothering me; I’m over it.

Blacktown Council said that the property has been the focus of two separate investigations since 2019 and that they have received several complaints about it.

The council said in a statement that “there are accusations that someone is being paid to carry trash from elsewhere and deposit it on the land.”

The owner has been given 28 days by the council to get the trash removed, and if they don’t, “regulatory action” will be taken.

Dave added that his neighbours should “f*** off” and stated, “I’m sure people in TV world have made errors, well I’ve done one, help me clean this up.”

The show promised to investigate obtaining Dave a skip bin.
