The Project drug shock: Steve Price admits to drug possession charges

Steve Price has disclosed that he was arrested and charged with narcotics possession in the 1970s for using marijuana.

Bickmore has been on The Project desk since the program was first launched back in 2009

The conservative Project panelist revealed the shocking information as he opposed a nationwide drive by the Greens to legalize recreational marijuana.

Tim Read, a physician and state Greens legislator, is leading the movement to decriminalize small quantities of other narcotics.

Price claimed he wanted to discuss his detention to demonstrate he wasn’t a ‘raving hypocrite’ when he criticized the Greens’ initiative.

Steve Price, a journalist and Project panelist, disclosed he was arrested and charged with narcotics possession in the late 1970s after being caught using marijuana.

In his Herald-Sun column, he said, “I despise what drugs do to people, but I would be a flaming hypocrite if I didn’t admit what happened to me in my early twenties.”

‘Somewhere in the depths of the South Australia police department would be a folder bearing my name,’ I presume.

Price, who was still employed as a journalist, was apprehended by police smoking a joint with two other individuals in a car registered in his name.

The cops discovered marijuana “in a plastic bag in the glovebox” of Price’s vehicle, which was parked in front of a hotel hosting a business event.

Price was arrested, charged with drug possession, and was required to appear before the South Australian Magistrates’ Court about the incident.

His Herald-Sun column stated that he was able to intercept the warrant containing the charges and court date that was mailed to his parents’ home, implying that his mother was unaware.

Price claimed that he received merely a fine and no other punishment.

Imagine if I went in court today on drug accusations. The internet would fail,’ he continued.

Police found Price (shown with co-host Carrie Bickmore) smoking marijuana. He appeared before the South Australian Magistrates’ Court but was fined.

He divulged the information to criticize Greens MP Tim Read (center) and his efforts to legalize marijuana and decriminalize small amounts of other narcotics.

This Monday, Carrie Bickmore, Price’s co-host on The Project, announced that she was leaving the current affairs panel show to spend more time with her family.

This Monday, the TV host fought back tears as she told viewers that she had to make the most difficult decision of her professional life.

Since the launch of The Project in 2009, the Gold Logie-winning journalist has been a frequent figure on Australian television.

She began, “I have some news I wanted to share… s***, I’m already sobbing.”

I have made the difficult choice to stop hosting the program at the end of the year.

This has been the most difficult decision of my professional life, but it’s time for a new challenge and my next chapter.

Carrie Bickmore (seen on The Project on Tuesday) has revealed that she will be quitting the show to spend more time with her family.

Bickmore stated that she would miss her’mates on the desk,’ presumably including Price, as well as the ‘great viewers’ who had supported the program for over a decade.

She stated, “It’s no secret that this show has become my second home, and I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone involved on and off screen.”

It has been a lengthy trip. My son Ollie began the show when he was one, and he is now fifteen, which is insane. Additionally, I wish to spend more time at home.

Bickmore has been a member of The Project staff since the program’s inception in 2009

Bickmore (seen at the 2019 Logies) stated that leaving The Project was the most difficult decision of her professional career.

I would like to host more family dinners. I’ll watch the show at home while holding a glass of wine. I just wanted to express my gratitude.

It has been an extraordinary honor.

Bickmore stated that while she enjoyed her ‘satisfying’ profession, she desired to discover who she was outside of The Project.

She stated, “This show is so ingrained in my DNA that I don’t know who I am without it.”
