Sarah Silverman is in charge of The Daily Show for the new week. The comedian, who has been in charge of the show since Monday, February 13th, used last night’s edition to mock Elon Musk’s newest Twitter stunt.
Silverman began her monologue by criticizing the new owner of Twitter, who purchased the service for billions of dollars in October and has been sowing turmoil ever since.
Silverman, after describing Musk as “a man who has definitely severed a robot,” informed viewers, “if you thought your Twitter feed was particularly flooded with Elon’s tweets this week, you’re not alone.”
She said, “Apparently, Elon’s tweets were not going viral enough, so he pressured his engineers to create a special algorithm so that everyone would see them first.”
Furthermore, The Verge reported on Tuesday (February 14) that when his Super Bowl message was less popular than a tweet from Vice President Joe Biden, Musk ordered that his team tweak the Twitter algorithm to enhance his content.
Silverman criticized Musk’s behavior, telling the audience, “It behooves all of us to be privy to the fresh and original insights of the world’s richest man,” while a tweet from Musk saying, “What do you call someone who is a master at baiting?” appeared onscreen alongside her.
Yet she was not finished.
Silverman reserved his harshest criticism for last, saying, “This is the most pitiful thing I’ve ever heard. I cannot comprehend how someone with 15 children could be an incel. I feel terrible for him, I do. This man paid $44 billion for the same concerns I have for nothing.”
Silverman is the most recent guest host to step in for The Daily Show since Trevor Noah’s departure late last year. Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, and Marlon Wayans are expected to stand in after her term expires.
