Following a nighttime stabbing at a residence in northern New South Wales, a teenage boy died.

Around 1.20am on Saturday, emergency personnel were summoned to a residence on McDougall Street in Casino following reports of a stabbing.

At the residence, police discovered a 17-year-old kid with stab wounds.

Police and paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended to him, however he passed away there and then.

The youngster hasn’t been officially identified yet.

A crime scene was created by Richmond Police District officers, and it will be forensically examined.

The incident may have been targeted, according to NSW police’s first investigations.

With the assistance of the Dog Unit and neighborhood police, investigators searched the area.

With the help of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, detectives have started an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death.
