Taylor Twellman departed from ESPN.
Twellman announced his departure from the network via Twitter on Friday.
Twellman wrote, “I cannot believe it has been nearly 13 years at ESPN.” “I have learned from the finest and thoroughly loved our soccer coverage: World Cup, UEFA, MLS, US Soccer, FA Cups, Open Cups, you name it. As a former athlete, hosting SportsCenter and other programs has been a dream come true. The helpful feedback was crucial and extremely needed.
“I’ve met so many talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera. However, the nicest thing is that I’ve made lifelong friends, for which I am glad. We shall meet again in the future, but for now, thank you.”
It is unknown where Twellman, age 42, will travel next. Apple TV+, which will show all MLS games beginning in 2023, is a natural destination. In November, Apple and MLS announced a 10-year, $250 million-per-year partnership. From 2002 until 2010, Twellman played in the MLS and scored 101 goals.

ESPN has substantially reduced its live soccer coverage. Despite the fact that ESPN currently streams several international leagues on ESPN+, the network’s agreement with MLS lapsed at the end of the previous season. The UEFA European Championship, also known as Euros, has moved from ESPN to Fox Sports for the 2024 and 2028 editions as part of a six-year agreement.
