St. Louis is engulfed in heavy rain which causes more flash flooding

Following what the National Weather Service called a “historic rainfall event” earlier this week, there was a flash flood warning in effect for the St. Louis region on Thursday as heavy rain once more descended upon the region.

According to NWS, the flash flood warning for Thursday is valid until at least 5:45 p.m. local time.

“Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The warned area may receive up to one inch of additional precipitation, but the rain is rapidly moving east out of the area “Thurs. NWS St. Louis reported.

Flash flooding is still happening.

On Thursday, there were a lot of calls about cars getting stuck on flooded roads, and the St. Louis Fire Department responded to them all.

The fire department advised drivers not to drive through standing water after several feet of flooding were reported.

The fire department also responded to a report of “multiple persons/children trapped in a dwelling with rising flood water” at a church daycare centre.

A later statement from the fire department stated that it “carried six children to safety from high/standing water.”

There were no reported injuries.

According to NWS, parts of the St. Louis metropolitan area received up to 10 inches of rain the day before Thursday’s flooding.

The flooding on Tuesday appears to have claimed the lives of at least two people.

St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson said at a press conference on Tuesday that one body was found inside a submerged car at an intersection by public safety officials.

When the floodwater started to recede around 10 a.m., officials discovered the person’s remains after being called to the scene because the car was submerged, according to Jenkerson.

The incident has been classified as a “sudden death” pending further investigation, the St. Louis Police Department said in a statement, and the medical examiner’s office will ultimately determine the cause.

The Hazelwood Police Department reported that a second body was discovered there on Wednesday.

Hazelwood is a suburb of St. Louis. Unoccupied semi-truck that appeared to have been entirely immersed in water at one point was found by police.

The missing truck driver’s body was discovered after extensive searching, according to the police, who also noted that there were “no clear signs of foul play.”
