Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has condemned banditry and other forms of terrorism in the country’s northwest. According to the Daily Post, following the terrorist strikes on villages in Kaduna and Niger states, parts of the region have continued to boil. Remember that the Kaduna State Government stated yesterday that bandits killed 1, 192 people in the state in 2021 and kidnapped 3, 348 others.
While presenting the security situation report from January to December 2021 to Governor Nasir El- Rufai, Mr Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, explained that the Kaduna Central Senatorial District recorded about 720 deaths due to banditry, communal clashes, violent attacks, and reprisal attacks.
Similarly, according to reports by Daily Post, dozens of people were killed and several homes were burned in recent attacks in Niger State’ s Galadima- Kogo and Galkogo towns of Shiroro Local Council.
The former lawmaker bemoaned the incessant attacks, saying that the only time the region is spared is when President Muhammadu Buhari comes to visit. He stated this on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, saying ” Bandits continue to kill in Kaduna, Niger and other states in the North West; the only time respite comes is whenever the president visits” .
Reacting to Shehu Sani’ s post a user commented, ” But northerners are not complaining. They are more worried about south east and Biafra. It’ s very funny. #Northisbleeding”
Another user in the comment section asked ” Why can’ t the 7 states in the North West come together as one to fights this bandits by creating something like Amotekun? .
I still do not understand why they cannot do that to help their citizens and fights this criminals as one units. “
