Shark dies on Cape Cod in the cold

Over the weekend, a dead, half frozen shark washed up on a chilly beach near Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Around 2:30 pm, a local photographer was strolling along Dennis’ Cold Storage Beach when she came upon the cadaver.

Amie Medeiros, the photographer, captured a snap of the shark lying on its side on the freezing beach and posted it on Instagram.

In the comments, she said that the frozen animal was “not what I was expecting to discover on my freezing winter excursion.”

The large fish, thought to be a porbeagle shark, may have perished as a result of a flank wound. Pictures taken by Mederios reveal that it has gashes above its fins.

According to the National Weather Service, as a result of the area’s below-freezing temperatures, portions of the corpse and the bulk of the beach were coated in ice.

As more people traveled to the beaches of the well-liked holiday destination throughout the summer, shark sightings in the seas off Cape Cod increased. Because of the reports of sightings and even a few mild attacks, beaches around the East Coast were closed.
