Shalulile becomes fastest player to reach 50 Mamelodi Sundowns goals!

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile made history following his latest goal in the 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United on Tuesday.

Shalulile netted Sundowns’ second goal after Aubrey Modiba had opened the scoring for his side on the night.

This was Shalulile’s 22nd league goal for Sundowns this season, and his 28th overall – he’s three goals away from matching Collins Mbesuma’s record tally of 25 league goals in a single season.

With three games to go, Shalulile would fancy his chances of becoming the only second player in the PSL era to score 25 league goals in a single season.

NEW HEIGHTS FOR MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STRIKER PETER SHALULILE

The goal against Sekhukhune was Shalulile’s 50th in all competitions since joining Sundowns from Highlands Park at the start of last season.

In doing so, Shalulile became the fastest player to reach the 50-goal mark for Sundowns – he achieved that feat with just 80 matches under his belt for the Brazilians.

That record was previously held by legendary Nigerian striker Raphael Chukwu who reached the 50-goal mark after having played 84 matches for Sundowns.

Chukwu achieved that feat over three spells as he twice went overseas and came back to Sundowns every time things didn’t go well abroad.
