Gustavo Gomez, the 71-year-old driver of the fatal vehicle, perished in the collision as letters and packages fell to the road below.
A USPS employee was reportedly spotted at the collision site taking photographs and making phone calls.

According to his wife, Gomez had been driving semi-trucks for about 21 years and was a ‘wonderful driver’ with five children.
Helen Torres, Gomez’s wife, described her husband as “quite humorous” and stated, “He was a truck driver, so what can I say? He truly loved a well-functioning automobile.”
Torres, inconsolable, lamented, “He’s gone, there’s no turning back.” We are currently broken,’ she stated. ‘We’re lost. He was expected to return home.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with Gomez’s semi-truck was not hurt and was observed collaborating with police officers at the scene.

The Texas Department of Transportation reported that officials were investigating the crash, which caused miles of traffic congestion.
USPS issued a statement stating, “A contractor who transports mail for the Postal Service was involved in the incident.” His family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
