Sean McDermott: “One hell of a cop” Victoria Police senior sergeant discovered deceased

A senior sergeant and grandpa who was discovered dead at a Melbourne police station was described as “one hell of a cop.”

On January 13, at approximately 7.30 p.m., Sean McDermott’s coworkers discovered his death at the Moorabbin station in the city’s inner-south.

Several days later, a family member said on social media, ‘[He] was a fantastic cop, but he was an even better person and family man.’

“He served with dignity”

According to a death notice published on Tuesday, the senior sergeant will be laid to rest in Glen Waverley on February 1.

In lieu of flowers, the note requested donations to the Blue Ribbon Foundation in Sean’s memory.

In the weeks following Senior Sergeant McDermott’s death, his friends and former coworkers inundated social media with tributes.

In a world where there is so much happiness and so much suffering, a coworker wrote, “there are so many people in pain.”

Friday at approximately 7.30 p.m., Sean McDermott’s coworkers discovered his dead at the Moorabbin station in the city’s inner-south.

“You were the kindest, funniest, and funniest person I’ve ever met, as well as an outstanding officer.”

Another stated, “There are no words to describe this; this person was constantly cheerful and upbeat, but was plainly fighting a war.

Always converse with your friends, family, and coworkers and inquire about their well-being. You never know, you could be the individual who makes a difference.

Others recalled him as a “great guy” who made others laugh.

Victoria Police issued a statement the day after his death stating, “His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”

The Police Association of Victoria expressed condolences and stated that the officer’s family and coworkers will be cared for.

The association stated, “Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues of the deceased member, who will be supported by The Police Association and Victoria Police.”

A member of a Facebook community devoted to departed members of the police stated that today was a “sad day” for the force.

“Rest in peace, Sarge,” he wrote.

‘Surround the troops and ensure their safety.

It will be difficult for them.

Former police officer and correctional spokesman for the opposition, Brad Battin, also expressed his sympathy.

Mr. Battin, who is also the MP for Berwick, posted on social media, “My thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of a life lost too soon.”

Today, thank all police officers for the hardship and pressure they and their families endure to safeguard our town.
