Police announced on Monday that Romania has extradited the accused leader of the Hell’s Angels branch in Romania to the United States to face allegations of drug trafficking, money laundering, and collaboration in attempted murder.

The Romanian media recognized the man as the chief of the country’s section of the motorcycle club, Marius Lazar, who is wanted for being a member of an international drug trafficking organization and for negotiating the attempted murder of two competitors.

In December, Lazar, age 49, was detained in Bucharest.

Monday he was escorted to a plane by US Marshals wearing face coverings, according to a Reuters witness.

“The extradition request was granted in January 2023, and the Romanian citizen will be transferred to the United States, where he will be tried for the alleged crimes,” police stated, without identifying the individual.

They stated that the Romanian police began investigating Hell’s Angels members in 2020, in collaboration with the US Marshals Service and the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
