Putin’s nuclear threat to the west

Today, Vladimir Putin offered a terrifying threat to deploy nuclear weapons on the West over Ukraine, warning world leaders, “I’m not bluffing.”

Putin vowed that he will use 'all available means' to defend what he sees as Russian territory, adding: 'I'm not bluffing' (pictured, a Russian nuclear test)

The desperate dictator addressed the nation and declared the mobilization of 300,000 military reserves – a first for Russia since the Second World War – as well as referendums in occupied regions of Ukraine to incorporate them into Russia.

Putin then pledged to employ ‘all means’ to defend Russia’s ‘territorial integrity,’ adding, ‘I am not bluffing…

Those who want to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should be aware that we can turn the tables on them.

This puts Putin on a collision course with Kyiv and its Western allies, who have already stated that attacks to liberate areas under Russian control would continue and the results of any “fake” referendums will not be acknowledged.

This morning, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, rejected the warning, stating that it indicates Russia is losing the fight.

Vladimir Putin today threatened the West with nuclear annihilation over Ukraine and declared intentions to transfer seized portions of Ukraine to the Russian mainland.

Russia has announced plans for referendums in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson, all of which it has either totally or partially occupied.

He described mobilization as a “expected step” that will prove to be immensely unpopular and claimed that Putin is attempting to shift the responsibility for launching a “unprovoked war” and Russia’s deteriorating economic situation onto the West.

It is believed that the mobilization will compel over 300,000 individuals into the Russian army, roughly doubling the size of Putin’s invasion force.

As Putin escalates the Ukraine conflict, Russian markets fall and demand for airline tickets surges.

As a result of Putin’s decision for Russia’s first military mobilization since World War II, the rouble fell against the dollar on Wednesday, and Russian stock markets plunged around 10%.

Google data also revealed an increase in searches for flights out of the nation in response to reports that the price of one-way tickets had risen, indicating that frightened residents were looking for methods to avoid the draft.

Putin announced that he had signed a decree on partial mobilization, significantly escalating what Russia refers to as its “special military operation” in Ukraine, and warned that Moscow would respond with the full force of its vast arsenal if the West persisted with what he termed its “nuclear blackmail.”

Shortly after 7 a.m. in London, the rouble fell 2.6% against the dollar, having earlier reached its lowest level since July 7.

The Russian stock market was tumbling, with energy titans Rosneft and Gazprom losing about 12 percent at one point.

The benchmark rouble-based MOEX index reached its lowest level since February 24, when Russia sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine.

At 2,094.5 points, the index was down 5.5% from its earlier low of 2,002.73 points. The RTS index denominated in dollars fell 8% to 1,061.9 points, its lowest level since April 27.

However, it is unclear when exactly these men will become available, and this will not assist to resolve Russia’s chronic equipment and supply shortage.

Those who will be drafted, a process that will begin today, will have prior military and combat experience, according to Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu.

Putin has avoided proclaiming any form of mobilization thus far, ostensibly out of fear of retribution from ordinary Russians who may have supported his “special military operation” since they had nothing to lose.

However, the Russian leader abruptly shifted course in response to pressure from friends, propagandists, and hardliners following last week’s devastating military setback near Kharkiv, which prompted calls for his resignation.

Putin chose to escalate and threaten the free world after being backed into a corner and facing the possible failure of his so-called “special military operation.”

Overnight, his address was delayed for thirteen hours, raising rumors of a Kremlin takeover.

But Putin eventually arrived to deliver his message in the early hours of Wednesday, very much alive and in power.

The speech was typical of Kremlin rhetoric during the duration of the war.

Putin attempted to rewrite history to portray the West and NATO as the aggressors, claiming that they had forced Ukraine into a war with Russia, despite having ordered an invasion of the country just seven months prior.

Despite abundant proof of civilian deaths, torture, indiscriminate shelling, and other crimes committed by his troops, he maintained that Russia had no alternative but to wage a ‘pre-emptive war’ to ‘defend’ the Ukrainian populace.

He emphasized that Moscow’s objective remained the complete liberation of the Donbass region and its people, whom he described as ‘hostages of the Kiev administration’

To secure victory, he vowed that beginning today, Russia’s military reserves and veterans will be conscripted into the army.

In addition to Donetsk and Luhansk, which make up the Donbas, referendums will be place in Zaporizhia and Kherson, which are also seized by Russia.

Voting will begin this week and continue into the next week, with police and municipal authorities going door-to-door to ensure that citizens vote – creating ample chance for intimidation.

Putin stated that Russia will also conduct a partial military mobilization, calling up veterans and reservists with combat or service experience (pictured, Russian marines in training)

In addition, voting boxes will be set up within Russia, ostensibly to let individuals who have already evacuated certain regions to vote, but they will likely be loaded with phony ballots.

Unsurprisingly, preliminary ‘polling’ reported by Russian official media last night revealed that more than 80 percent of respondents in the four areas desire to join Russia.

In Donetsk and Lugansk, the reported percentage was greater than 90%.

Putin then said, “Our country also possesses a variety of defense capabilities, some of which are more advanced than those of NATO nations.”

This is not a bluff: when the territorial integrity of our nation is threatened, we will employ all available means to defend Russia and our people.

“Russian citizens can rest assured that the territorial integrity of our nation, our independence, and our liberty will be protected by any available means.”

Those attempting to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should be aware that the wind could blow in their direction.

He cautioned, “This is no bluff.”

He claimed he was responding to warnings from unspecified high-ranking NATO officials over the potential use of nuclear weapons against Russia.

Putin made it plain that when he refers to Russian land, he means the occupied regions of Ukraine where he will hold phony referendums on joining the Kremlin empire in the coming days.

In a prerecorded message, he informed Russians, “I find it necessary to take the following action.”

To safeguard our Motherland, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

To protect the safety of our people and those residing in liberated territory.

“I deem it necessary to endorse the Ministry of Defense and General Staff’s proposal to declare partial mobilization in Russia.”

I reiterate: we are discussing partial mobilization.

Therefore, only current reservists would be called to active duty.

Priority would be given to those who have served in the military and have suitable army speciality and experience.

Those who are drafted will be required to complete military training.

Putin stated, “Only individuals who are now in the reserve, and above all, those who have served in the Armed Forces, have particular military specialties and appropriate expertise, will be drafted.”

‘Those drafted will receive further military training prior to being assigned to their units, taking into consideration the experience of a special military operation.’

In anticipation of Putin’s statements at the United Nations last night, Western leaders stated that they would not recognize the results of any “fake” referendums in Ukraine.

The Russians are free to do what they choose. Nothing will change,’ claimed Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Tuesday as world leaders arrived for the United Nations General Assembly.

Later, he reiterated his position by tweeting, “False’referendums’ will not change anything.” Neither will any form of hybrid “mobility,”

Russia has been and continues to be an illegal occupier of Ukrainian territory. Ukraine has every right to liberate its regions and will continue to do so regardless of what Russia says.

If the strategy for the referendum weren’t so terrible, French President Emmanuel Macron said, it would be humorous.

He referred to Russia’s invasion as a “return to a new period of imperialism and colonies” and warned that inactivity may lead to the “destruction of the international order, without which peace is impossible.”

It is not necessary to choose between East and West, or North and South. It is an issue of responsibility,’ he remarked, referring to the UN Charter.

In the meantime, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that the globe was “facing a new fragmentation” after years of optimism following the end of the Cold War and the reunification of his own country.

After years of optimism following the conclusion of the Cold War and his nation’s reunification, Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that the globe was “facing a new fragmentation.”

Scholz stated that President Vladimir Putin, who invaded Ukraine in February, will only abandon his imperialist goals and war if he learns he cannot prevail.

He stated, “We stand resolutely by the side of those under attack, for the protection of the lives and independence of the Ukrainian people, and for the protection of our international order.”

And Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida informed the assembly that the credibility of the United Nations was in jeopardy due to Russia’s invasion, a permanent member of the Security Council.

Last night at the United Nations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Western leaders for rejecting Russia’s plans to tear away portions of his nation.

Macron was among the leaders who addressed the United Nations last night over Ukraine, accusing Putin of attempting to “return to an age of imperialism and colonies.”

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a violation of the concept and values of the United Nations’ charter… It must never be tolerated, added Kishida.

In his nightly address, Zelenskyy acknowledged that the declarations raised numerous issues, but he emphasized that they would not alter Ukraine’s willingness to recapture territories taken by Russian forces.

“The reality on the front line demonstrates unequivocally that Ukraine has the initiative,” he stated. Our locations are unaffected by the loudness or any announcements made elsewhere. And our partners fully back us in this endeavor.

Zelensky stated, “I applaud all friends and allies of Ukraine for today’s principled and resolute denunciation of Russia’s attempts to orchestrate fresh fake referendums.”

The Kremlin-controlled lower house of parliament voted on Tuesday to strengthen regulations banning desertion, surrender, and theft by Russian troops. This is another indication that Russia is preparing for a protracted and intensified conflict.

In addition, lawmakers decided to implement potential 10-year prison sentences for soldiers who refuse to battle.

If approved as expected by the upper house and then signed by Putin, the measure would bolster commanders’ ability to combat reports of declining soldier morale.

In the city of Enerhodar, under Russian occupation, shelling continued near Europe’s largest nuclear power facility.

Energoatom, a Ukrainian energy company, reported that Russian shelling at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station once again damaged infrastructure and briefly compelled workers to start two diesel generators to provide emergency power to reactor cooling pumps.

Even though all six reactors have been turned down, these pumps are necessary to prevent a meltdown at a nuclear complex. Energoatom reported that the generators were turned off after the main power was restored.

For months, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been a source of concern due to suspicions that bombardment could create a radiation leak. Russia and Ukraine each accuse the other of shelling.
