Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘stepped up’ after Meghan Markle’s first royal engagement, says a new book

Meghan Markle’s first royal engagement made Prince William and Kate Middleton realise they needed to “raise their game,” according to Katie Nicholl’s “The New Royals.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their engagement in 2017, and Prince Harry and Meghan joined William and Kate on a panel at the first-ever Royal Foundation Forum in 2018.

After the incident, a source reportedly informed Nicholl that William and Kate had a “wake-up moment,” according to The Mirror.

A royal specialist named Nicholl said that the Cambridges had “already signalled their determination to be more than ‘ornamental royals’ and had, with Harry, made a major success of their mental health initiative Heads Together.”

However, Meghan was able to manage herself well under the limelight as seen by her look.

“The foursome’s breakthrough star, though, was Meghan. She presented her argument with poise, fervour, and humour, using all of her TV-honed abilities “based on the book.

William and Kate, who had traditionally served as the only representatives of contemporary monarchy, were taken aback by Meghan’s attendance at the occasion.

According to a source who talked with Nicholl, “it was a wake-up moment for William and Kate when they saw that Meghan was extremely remarkable, very confident, and very competent.”

William reportedly raised reservations about how rapidly Meghan and Harry’s relationship was developing, which sparked an alleged long-standing conflict between the siblings.

William was concerned that Harry was “going too quickly” with Meghan, according to Robert Lacey’s book “Battle of Brothers: William and Harry — The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult.”

According to Insider, the royal family had “difficult challenges” in 2020 as a result of Harry and Meghan ceasing to do their official obligations.

The gulf between Harry and his family widened after the dramatic interview that Harry and Meghan had with Oprah in 2021. Harry said that William and their father, King Charles III, were “stuck” in the company throughout the talk.

Prince William was reportedly “fuming” when the interview aired, according to Us Weekly. According to a source quoted by the site, “William feels bound by his duties, but doesn’t feel confined.”

After Queen Elizabeth passed away on September 8, their dispute seemed to have come to an end. At various events commemorating their grandma, the brothers attended with their spouses and strolled hand in hand.

Nicholl also said in her book that William and Kate were glad when Meghan and Harry resigned from their royal responsibilities. Once they quit, the pair apparently felt as if the “drama was gone.”

The Queen wanted the royal family to get together because she was “exhausted” by the problems with Harry and Meghan, according to Nicholl’s book.
