Rome – A source close to the issue told AFP on Sunday that French police had begun an inquiry into Paul Pogba’s accusations that he is the target of a multimillion-euro blackmail plot by gangsters involving his brother.

Pogba’s accusations were made after his brother Mathias posted a weird web video in four languages (French, Italian, English, and Spanish) promising “major disclosures” regarding the Juventus star.

According to a statement signed by his attorneys, his mother Yeo Moriba, and his current agent Rafaela Pimenta, the videos published on Saturday night “come as no surprise.”

“They are in addition to threats and extortion attempts made on Paul Pogba by an organized gang,” stated the statement.

“The competent authorities in France and Italy were notified a month ago, and there will be no further comment on the ongoing inquiry.”
