Suspension Decision Following Plenary Session
During a plenary session led by Speaker Abok Ayuba, the Plateau State House of Assembly made the decision to suspend all chairmen from the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The suspension was prompted by allegations of financial misconduct against the local government officials.
Motion and Petition Highlighting Misconduct Allegations
The motion for suspension was presented by Pirfa Tyem, a representative from the Langtang North-North constituency.
It was based on a petition received by the House, which contained allegations of financial wrongdoing involving the LGA officials.
The state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, had communicated these allegations to Tyem.
Speaker Announces Suspension and Directs Transfer of Government Properties
Following the passage of the motion, Speaker Ayuba officially announced the suspension of the LGA chairmen.
Additionally, he instructed the suspended officials to transfer all government properties under their care to the Director of Personnel Management.
This directive aims to facilitate the initiation of an investigation into the allegations of financial misconduct.
