Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly dealt TWO injury blows, BUT Percy Tau named in squad

Amr El-Sulya and Mohamed Abdelmonem missed Al Ahly’s final training session ahead of their CAF Champions League first leg semi-final clash against ES Setif on Saturday, 7 May.

Kick-off is at 21:00 (SA time).

Pitso Mosimane’s Red Devils team received the double blow ahead of hosting the the first leg clash when midfielder El-Sulya and centre-back Abdelmonem sat out the last training session due to injury.

El-Sulya is suffering a hamstring strain while Abdelmonem has an adductor muscle strain.

Al Ahly kicked off their Champions League journey in Group A where they qualified for the quarter-finals as second place finishers behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

In that last 8 eight encounter, they eliminated Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, beating them 3-2 on aggregate.

ES Setif on the other hand have also qualified in second place (in Group B) behind Raja Casablanca, before knocking out Esperance de Tunis in the quarter-finals.

Al Ahly will be on the road for the second leg of the semi-final

The two teams will now come face to face for a spot in the tournament’s final.

Al Ahly are the defending champions.

The first leg will take place in Cairo while the second leg will be played a week later (Saturday, 14 May) in Algeria.

The other semi-final will see Petro de Luanda from Angola take on Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club.
