Pitso: I would’ve been criticised by media if Al Ahly had won by one goal

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has warned his charges that they haven’t qualified for the CAF Champions League final despite their big win on Saturday.

Al Ahly hammered ES Setif 4-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals, but Mosimane believes the return leg will be very difficult.

Mosimane said his team was in control before ES Setif were reduced to 10 men in the 35th minute of the game, and he feels the Egyptian media would have been on his case had Al Ahly won by an odd goal.

Nonetheless, Mosimane said he has seen and gone past so many challenges in his 21 years of coaching, adding that he can handle the pressure better.

“We still haven’t qualified to the final yet despite the flattering scoreline, and it won’t be easy to play against ES Setif in the return leg,” said Mosimane as per Kingfut.

“Before the red card, we were playing well and controlled the game, but what would happen if we had won by just one goal with a man advantage? I would’ve been criticized by the media.

“I have enough experience because I’ve been a coach for 21 years, and I have gone through a lot of difficult situations in the past.

“My team creates a lot of chances, but if we struggled to do that, then it becomes a concern for me,” he added.
