Orlando Pirates‘ former defender Kwanda Mngonyama reportedly signs for Swallows FC

Former defender Kwanda Mngonyama of the Orlando Pirates found employment quickly. According to reports, the utility player has joined Swallows FC.

The 28-year-old Durban native was freed from the Sea Robbers ship and transferred to his sixth PSL club.

Mngonyama was released by the Soweto giants after just nine appearances in a black shirt last season. He can play right-back, central defence, and midfield.

Soccer Laduma reported that “Well-placed Siya sources have confirmed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender has penned a one-year deal with the Dube Birds, with an option to extend for another campaign”.

“Mngonyama spent a brief period training under the watchful eye of coach Dylan Kerr, who himself recently penned a new deal with the club, and managed to impress enough to earn himself a deal,” the report added.

Few athletes have logged as many miles as this man. During the previous season, Mngonyama played football for Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Maritzburg United, Cape Town City, and of course Pirates.

On Saturday, August 6, at 15:30 at Orlando Stadium, he may make his Dube Birds debut against the same Pirates.
